Friday night, the freshmen boy’s basketball team faced off with West Wendover in a battle of skill. The Buckaroos charged up and down the court scoring point after point, but West Wendover’s Wolverines were not to be beaten easily. They too scored point after point and at one time were ahead in the game, but the freshmen boys were not to give up without a fight.

Snatching the ball away from their fierce opponents, they whizzed down the court, accumulating point after point. In a game that lasted about seventy-five minutes, the freshmen boys were able to make eleven more points than West Wendover, ending the game at seventy-six to sixty-five. Tired, but happy after an energetic game, the freshmen boys shook hands with the Wolverines.

Coach Taua Cabatbat and Coach Ty Lucas are the two coaches heading this victorious team.

In commenting on his team’s victory, Coach Lucas said, “I felt that we played well.”

Coach Lucas also commented that the team executed their plays well and called them a good team. When asked about areas to improve on for the team, he said that the team would need to work on their defensive transition.

Player Dusty Bryan shared Coach Lucas’s sentiments on where the freshmen boys’ basketball team could have improved in their game, in the defense. All thoughts of improvement aside, the freshmen boys’ basketball team is to be congratulated on their success Friday night. The freshmen boys will play against West Wendover February 12.
