Freshman take on Elko

The Bucks traveled to Elko on Saturday, February 10, hoping to beat Elko to keep their perfect record.

Going into the game, the freshman team was undefeated and didn’t want to know how that would feel, especially to their biggest rivals. It’s never easy in Elko, as the Bucks found themselves down in the first half but kicked it into gear by the start of the fourth quarter.

“We went undefeated, including a thriller in our last game against Elko,” said Coach JacobEvans. “We were down going into the fourth quarter when my point guard, JJ Backus, took over the game. He scored double digits in the fourth and led us to a win.”

The Bucks played hard throughout the game and just had fun with it. They just kept their heads up and came back from a deficit in the first half.

“We just played hard and had fun. We were down at first, but we got our stuff together and played hard,” said Tristen Schmittel.
