Lowry’s annual homecoming Powder Puff game took place on Monday, October 2, after the homecoming parade. As per usual, the many gender-reversed Powder Puff festivities never cease to entertain.
Girls’ football, the main event, ended 22-6, with the sophomores and juniors crushing the seniors and freshmen. Their star was junior, Hannah Growcock.
“Powder Puff football is fun and intense,” said Growcock. “It was a really cool experience, and I hope people continue to do it next year.”
Football isn’t the only thing that goes on at Powder Puff. With the girls playing football, the only people left to cheerlead are the guys. Powder Puff cheerleading is mostly laughs, with intense games of leapfrog. At one point, they even dropped a kid, but it didn’t result in any injuries.
With halftime came the crowning of the junior Powder Puff royalty. In true Powder Puff fashion, the candidates paraded down the field with the girls wearing football uniforms and the guys in dresses. This year’s Powder Puff king was Madyson Lujan, and the queen was Caleb Sanchez.
