It was a rough week for the Bucks as they lost games to Elko, Truckee, and Sparks over the span of four days.

Play for the week opened on Wednesday with a home game against Elko. The Buckaroos scored first in the contest but allowed the game to slip from their grasp as they went on to lose 3-1. On Friday, the team traveled to Truckee to play the Wolverines. It was a similar story to the Elko game as the Bucks, once again, scored first. Only this time they lost by a bigger margin than two goals and the final score was 6-1. For their final game of the week, the team traveled one town over to Sparks. Although the game was hard fought by the Bucks, the Railroaders kept them out of the net and won the contest 3-0.

Sophomore defender Colton De La Mora commends the team’s effort during the game and looks forward to the rest of the season.

“With both games, we tried our hardest. I can’t say the whole team went for gold but we did try. Even though we lost our games, we played well defensively and are ready to give an attack for the rest of the season,” said De La Mora.

Sophomore captain and goalkeeper Dylan Kalkoske realizes the team has some bugs to work out but can’t wait for the remainder of the season.

“Well, the Truckee game we should have won. We just couldn’t get everyone working at the same intensity and nothing was working in our favor. The Sparks game was right. The first half was about the same as our Truckee game but the second half was a lot better and we played with a higher intensity and shut them down. But overall our season is going pretty well. We just had our three off games but I feel it picking back up,” concluded Kalkoske.

The team continues to play with a home game against the Fernley Vaqueros on Wednesday, October 7, a team the Bucks have previously beaten this season.
