JV boys wrap up season

The boys JV soccer team has wrapped up their season after their final game in Sparks. They finished the season with four wins.

“The team’s final record did not represent how well they did overall this season,” said coach Brian Shettler. “The boys started off the season very rough, with much to work on. As the season moved along game by game, it was visible that the overall skill and communication of the team were significantly improving.”

The Bucks were coming together and trusting each other as a team. During the rest of the season, they proved to be much more competitive and skilled players.

Sophomore and one of the captains of the team, Elias Arechiga, believes that his team did their best every time they stepped on the field, but for some reason slacked in the first half of most games, but gave it their all in the second half.

That is what costs us most of our losses, but we played as hard as we could, and we accepted the fact that we won’t win every time,” said Arechiga.

Truckee and Spring Creek were two successful matches for the boys.

“In those games, we never stopped working hard,” said freshman Brandon Lee. “We always kept a great attitude, no matter what the score was.”

They beat Spring Creek 3-2 and lost to Truckee 2-1, but still played well.

“I am proud of their progress and hope they continue to improve next year,” said Shettler.
