JV girls earn win over Wolverines

The JV girl’s basketball team had a close game on Friday, January 8, against Truckee. But in the end, Lowry was victorious.

In the first quarter, Lowry was up 4-2 with four minutes left in the quarter.

Late in the second quarter, Paige Thiede made two free throws followed by Hana Etcheverry’s two free throws that tied the score 16-16.

In the second half of the game, Etcheverry sank 1 of 2 free throws on a technical foul bringing the score to 33-28.

Truckee’s coach received his second technical of the game allowing another free throw.

With 2:50 minutes left Lowry made their final basket bringing the score to 42-30. The final score of Friday’s game was 42-34, a good win for Lowry’s JV girls.

After the game, the team had many positive things to say about the way the game went for them.

Etcheverry said, “I think we did good and played as a team. It’s about time we do that.”

The JV girls’ next games are against Fernley and Sparks.
