The JV girls soccer team beat Spring Creek 2-1 on Wednesday, September 20.
“We got off to a slow start, but we finally settled in and took home the win,” said coach Joelle Cooper.
Lowry struck first as a sophomore, and Kelcey Cooper found the back of the net on a through ball from Macy Delong.
Spring Creek managed to get one past Hannah Growcock, but that was all she allowed as she went on to have “five fantastic saves to hold them to one goal,” according to Joelle Cooper.
The Bucks were tied going into the second half until junior Zafiro Cano slipped a long shot by the Spartan keeper to give Lowry the lead.
“It was very exciting to score my first goal,” said Cano.
Bailee Brinkerhoff and Angelica Guzman played tough in the middle.
Defense stepped up with Dacotah Anelli, Makayla Bennet, and Emily Schoenecker, working hard to keep the Spring Creek attack flustered.
“I think if we played how we did the second half, we should be successful in our next game against Elko,” said Bennet.
The JV girls have a home game against Elko on September 26 at 3 p.m.
