Getting some wins is great, getting some wins during Homecoming week is even better. Lowry’s JV girls soccer went 2-1 last week.

“The season is going really well. We have 5 wins and 3 losses. I thought our games this week went really well,” said JV coach Ryan Abbott.

The Lady Bucks started off playing in Elko on Wednesday, September 30. They had an amazing game despite being on Elko’s home field and the girls won 2-1.

“The game I thought we played best in was our 2-1 win against Elko. They are a tough team to beat away and we were able to come back from behind in the second half to win,” said Abbott.

Their next game was Friday, October 2 against Truckee, in which they lost 4-0. Despite that loss, they came back strong the next day, Saturday, October 3, and beat Sparks, 8-0.

“The game we played best in was Sparks, we won 8-0 and our passing was great and we worked as a team,” said Vanessa Diaz.

The team is halfway through their season and they are working hard in practice so they can improve in their games.

“The team did well with passing, but we need to improve our communication because that could always improve,” said Vanessa Diaz.

Coach Ryan Abbott had the same thing to say in regards to what the team is doing well and what needs to be improved on.

“We pass really well and we play strong defense throughout the entire field including our forwards. The thing that we need to work on most is our communication. I can definitely see a lot of improvement every week,” said Abbott.

Things are looking good for the team as they finish up the season, their next game is Wednesday, October 7 in Fernley. Their next home game is Saturday, October 10 against Fallon.

“I’m really proud of the team and I think we are going to have a great second half of our season,” said Abbott.
