Members of the Lowry High School Art Club are displaying their art at the Winnemucca Fine Arts Gallery.

Not only is LHS displaying their art for everyone to see, but the whole school district, K-12. The student art show takes place every March because March is National Student Art Month.

“There are art shows happening all across the United States for National Student Art Month,” said Art Club advisor Andy Anderson.

Some of the projects that will be shown in the art show will be 2-dimensional drawings, samples of fashion boards, figure drawings, and ceramics.

“The ceramics display will include sculptures, function sets of bowls and pictures,” said Anderson.

With a community member giving out ribbons to the different works of art, the students’ art will be awarded. The different awards are, “Best in Show”, and “Judge’s Choice”, and “Bravo Awards” for effort. All students at least walk away with a certificate of participation.

“We have had different judges in the past, some local artists like Susan Rorex, Mariana Enochson. We have had teachers in the past like Mark Carstensen judge the artwork,” said Anderson.

Some of the projects will participate in the Scholastic Young Artists’ Competition that’s being shown in Reno at the Nevada Museum of Art.

These works of art will be shown in the local art gallery starting March 1, 2011, at 6 p.m. and on the weekends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
