On January 29 the Lowry Bucks left their mark on Truckee by battling their way to their seventh win of the season. The last time the teams quarreled the Bucks came out on top 62-53.

This game was not so close. The Lowry Bucks started the game with Zeb Teichert, David Eastman, Joel Mendoza, Danny Westfall, and Will Thacker. Just as in the last game, Truckee came out slow in the first quarter. The Bucks stayed strong on defense for the entire first quarter, and the ending score was 20-10.

“It was intense, very intense” said Westfall.

The second quarter started out with a whole new line of players. Lowry kept the defense tough for the first half of the quarter then they began to fall apart.

They did not play very well according to Westfall. The game was tied at the half with the score 31-31.

Lowry and Truckee remained tied for the majority of the quarter until the end when Lowry held the lead with 47-44.

In the fourth quarter Lowry had a hard time maintaining the lead. By the middle of the quarter, Lowry still held a two-point lead, 55-53. In the next few minutes, Lowry began a scoring spree, while the defense stayed solid. The game ended 75-61 in Lowry’s favor.

“We got away and won the game,” said Mendoza.

Lowry’s next game is at home for the Winterfest weekend against the Sparks Railroaders.
