The Lowry track team had a meet that took place in Fernley on Friday, April 14. The meet results are evidence of the hard work and teamwork the athletes have put in so far. Each athlete on the track team showed a lot of improvement and progress.
The Lowry girls ran their first relay race during the meet and did very well. The members of the team were Julianna Gonzalez, Adia Bengochea, Shelby Garrison, and Hailey Hinkle, who filled in for Hailey Fernandez. The girls first took place in the 4×100 relay and second in the 4×200 relay.
Senior Shelby Garrison was impressed with how her team did in the relay.
“I think that for our first time running it, we did well. Our handoffs were all smooth for the most part,” said Garrison.
The relay team is planning on better improvement throughout the track season.
“I think we will improve more on are handoffs with a little more practice, added Garrison.
The Lowry track girls also did very well in the throwing category. Rachel Garrison took first place in discus in Fernley out of 34 girls.
