Gym teacher Jessie Zamudio has worked to improve students’ physical fitness at Lowry. One student who stands out to him is Olivia Smith.
Smith was selected because she is always early to class and has a positive attitude.
“I try my best to be kind to everyone,” said Smith. “Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, even in a competition.”
“She is always ready to help,” said Zamudio. “Whether it be a classmate, or to aid with setting up or breaking down activities. She has also done a great job of improving her skills in PE and using those skills in class and in her athletics, whether it be weightlifting or swimming.”
Smith is a freshman. She is naturally very athletic, loving going on walks and competitively swimming.
“I love being outside doing things,” said Smith. “It’s where I feel the most in my element.”
