Coach Tawnya Root has chosen Luna Alvarez for working hard and always having a smile on her face.

“Luna is a pleasure to have on our team this year. She is always smiling and working hard at softball daily,” said Root.

Root appreciates Alvarez’s dedication to the game.

“She is very coachable and makes adjustments and changes when the coaching staff suggests them,” said Root. “She is also very adaptable and has played numerous positions on our JV team and has done so with a smile, willing to learn all the positions she can.”

Alvarez was excited to be chosen for Student-Athlete of the Week and enjoys her teammates’ support.

“I love being on the field,” said Alvarez. “My teammates have good energy getting on the field and helping each other when they are getting ready to bat.”

Outside of school, Alvarez likes to practice soccer or softball and hang out with her teammates. She wants the rest of the season to be fun with her teammates.

“I’m excited to play with the whole team,” said Alvarez.

JV Softball will play on April 11 at 3 p.m. in Spring Creek.
