Performer of the Issue: Lizzie Sims

You may have noticed her in the back of the auditorium during plays working the lights or have seen her artwork. The Performer of the Issue is Lowry’s hidden gem, Lizzie Sims. Sims is a senior who has taken art classes since her freshman year. She has also been involved in stagecraft and Drama since her junior year.

Sims has taken multiple art classes and is taking advanced art this year.

“My favorite part of art is that the possibilities are endless and limitless,” said Sims.

She is participating in Drama this year and occasionally comes into Stagecraft during her off periods to help out. In the first play of the school year, “Macbeth”, she rocked the lights from the witch’s scenes to the murder scenes to the fight scenes. In the production of “Saturday Night Live” she appeared in various acting parts and Lowry’s first play of 2015, “Cinderella”, she will be appearing as the Fairy God Mother.

“My favorite part of the drama is the beautiful people and the magical memories,” said Sims.

Drama director and English teacher, Corrine James is full of praise for Sims and the magic she can make with a little glue and glitter.
“Lizzie can multitask, she is beautiful, and she is creative,” said James.

Sims also participates in Art Club and Future Business Leaders of America. This is her fourth year of FBLA, last year she attended the national competition in Tennessee and she will be attending FBLA state in April. Sims is also a 4.0 student.

Sims has extraordinary plans for her future. While attending a play at the Reno Little Theatre she felt inspired. She was talking with a woman about the production and discovered that the woman was the director. The director gave her a tour of the theatre and the light panels. Ideas of attending college and working at a theatre filled Sims’ mind.

“I’m going to take my art and everything into the theatre and business degree I will be pursuing,” said Sims.
