The annual Art CTE Showcase is coming soon

Throughout the school year, students in art, welding, ceramics, and many more creative classes make a variety of different projects, whether it be paintings, bookshelves, or even artwork on the sidewalk. On May 28 from 6-8 p.m. those students will be given the chance to show off their many great works and the general public of Winnemucca will have the chance to admire these pieces.

Mrs. Rorex, who has been in charge of this special occasion for several years, encourages everyone to find the time this evening and check out the event.

“It is an opportunity for the students in those types of classes to show their final projects. Some kids will do a project and it goes immediately home and then no one gets the benefit of seeing what great work they have created and so that is how it kind of started,” said Rorex.

The students who have created these pieces will be there to talk to the general public about what went into their pieces, what kind of work went into the project, and just to have a good time with their peers.

“In many of the classrooms, there will be students throwing pots on the pottery wheel, there will be students in automotive talking about what kind of things they have built. Mr. Bernardi will be there to talk about the electrical system they have built. So there will be students in each classroom either working on projects and showing off others,” said  Rorex.

FFA will be there to sell the plants that they have grown in Lowry’s Greenhouse, so those will be available to the public. Extra yearbooks will also be on sale at the event. If the weather agrees, there will be a “Chalkfest” going on outside where students will be creating works of art on the sidewalk.

It will be a busy and fun night for Lowry High School and everyone is encouraged to check out the action.
