The 2015 swim team started out strong in their first meet against Incline in Reno. With a hard week of practice, everyone worked for their position to be on Lowry’s swim team.

Starting out the season strong as a team is important; Lowry’s swim team has been working hard for two weeks to destroy Incline, Aqua Five, South Tahoe, Fernley, Fallon, Sage Ridge/Sparks, and Truckee.

“South Tahoe and Truckee are our biggest competition because they have good coaches, we can’t afford to have any disqualifications or false starts,” said coach Mike Owens.

A great thing about the swim team is that both boys and girls work together to swim for a win. Everyone gets along with one another and everyone has one thing in mind, they all love to swim.

Luckily, Owens has some sound advice to offer to swimmers, “Never give up in the pool, be successful during school, and always work hard.”

The most recent swim meet was against Fernley. Lowry pulled off with another win for both the boys and the girls.

Lowry will compete against Incline and South Tahoe on April 17 and 24. Lowry Swim will be competing against Sage Ridge/Sparks, Fallon/North Tahoe, and Truckee on April 24. After that, there will be regionals on May 8 and 9 in Carson. Sate will be in Carson on May 16.
