In order to maintain a cumulative 4.0 great point average throughout all fours of high school, one must be immensely dedicated as well as focused. Senior Miranda Buttram and Jacob Gibson have done just that. Out of an entire class consisting of approximately 200 students, Buttram ranks number one, dubbing her the title of class valedictorian followed by class salutatorian, Gibson.

Class ranking is based upon great point average, which Buttram and Gibson have respectably managed throughout their high school careers. Both students also enrolled, and excelled, in numerous honors classes.

Regarding this great achievement, Gibson jokingly said, “[I am] Very bitter, I wanted to destroy Miranda,” Gibson continued, “It’s a great honor, I’m grateful for the privilege that I have to be honored in this manner.”

Buttram obtains similar feelings of elation in addition to feelings of relief, “[I am] Exhausted, ecstatic, and happy I get a break… well at least until college.”

Both Buttram and Gibson will be recognized and awarded by Lowry High School principal, Mrs. Deborah Watts on graduation night, Thursday, June 2 at the Winnemucca Events Center.

Worthily succeeding Buttram and Gibson in the list of the top ten students’ ranking includes (in order), Dillon Bryan, Kristine Ingle, Shane Bell, Emelia Legarza, Elaina Barta, Kelsey Lambert, Patrick York, and Rachel Yates. All of whom are honorably recognized for their display of diligence contributing to scholastics and moreover, are positive examples for current, as well as future, Lowry students.

“I would just encourage everyone to put their best effort into all that they do,” said Gibson.
