The varsity boy’s basketball record was not a true indicator of the success they had this year.
First-year head coach Brandon Eastman is proud of how the season went for the boys; the score is not what matters.
“Of course, the goal is always to win games and compete for a spot in the postseason, but there is always so much more to a successful team and season than the results on the scoreboard,” said Eastman.
Coach Eastman is proud to know how the boys impacted the Lowry Basketball Program.
“The group that we had this year represented the program, Lowry High School, and the Winnemucca community the best they possibly could, and that’s all I can ever ask as their coach,” said Eastman.
“They always did things the right way, and I never had to coach effort with them,” said Eastman.
Junior Jovanny Cuevas is happy with how the 2024-2025 season went, but wishes it could’ve been better.
“The season went well,l although it wasn’t the outcome we wanted, especially the seniors,” said Cuevas.
Cuevas looks forward to many things for the 2025-2026 season.
“I look forward to playing the sport I love, improving as a player, and doing better than we did this season,” said Cuevas.
Senior Jaden Jimenez hit a winning buzzer-beater against Churchill County, which is a moment he will remember forever.
“My favorite part of the season would have to be hitting that game-winner in Fallon because it’s a moment I will never forget,” said Jimenez.
Jimenez also had the opportunity to play on the same team as his brother, Byron Jimenez.
“A memory I will have from this season was being able to play with my brother and compete against him every day, and talk trash,h and to be able to have him by my side my senior year,” said Jimenez.
Matthew Casalez was happy he got to end the season on a good note, playing with his teammates.
“My favorite part of the season was being around my teammates I’ve played with since I was a little kid and getting to play with them one last time,” said Casalez.
To cap the season, Jaden Jimenez finished the season as First-Team All-State. Byron Jimenez received Second-Team All-State. Connor Nelson and Mathew Casalez Honorable Mention.
Senior, Jaden Jimenez (13.8 ppg) led the boys in scoring this season, and senior, Matthew Casalez was the second-leading scorer (11.7 ppg).
