Varsity football finishes first home game with a win

Football season is everyone’s favorite season because it means Friday nights under the lights, sweater weather, and pumpkin frappes.  Last Friday, September 9, everyone enjoyed the first home game, Buckaroos winning 20-13 against Truckee.

The beginning of the game was discouraging; it was full of fumbles and turnovers. Despite those flaws, the Bucks finished with a win.

“Our weakest point was coming into the game strong and staying together. We did a good job running the ball and finishing the game out as a team,” said Omar Guerrero.

After the first quarter, Lowry was winning 7-3. By halftime, Truckee was in the lead 13-7. There were no points scored for either team in the third quarter.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, no one could know which direction the game would, whether in Truckee or Lowry’s favor. But Lowry finished with a 20-13 win.

Lowry will be working hard at practice for their upcoming game against South Tahoe.

“[In the] next game we need to improve the passing game and come out with a big bang from the locker room to the field,” said Guerrero.

The boys will be back in action on September 26 in South Tahoe at 7 p.m.
