Varsity football season ends with playoff loss to Fallon

This season for the varsity football team ended with excitement, happiness, and memories. The team finished with a record of 2-8. The importance of being an athlete is not always about winning championships, but the memories the athletes make. Senior wide receiver Anthony Monroy scored five touchdowns and averaged 68 yards per game. 

“This season was one of the best I’ve ever been a part of,” said Monroy. “The friends and teammates made practices and games fun every day.”

Many Buckaroo players were recognized with league and state awards at the end of the season.  Gabe Lange, 3A North Honorable Mention Offensive Line; Logan Jonas, 3A North Honorable Mention Offensive Line; Erick Valencia, 3A North Offensive Player of the Year; Ryder Huitt, 3A North 1st Team Offense Wide Receiver; Anthony Monroy, 3A North 2nd Team Offense Wide Receiver; Erick Valencia, 1st Team All-State Running Back; Ryder Huitt, 2nd Team All-State Wide Receiver.

Seniors: Anthony Monroy, Matthew Casalez, Brandon Cardenas, Sebastian Garcia, Jaden Jimenez, Anthony Martinez, Logan Jung, Gabrial Lange, Logan Jonas, Levi Shepardson, and David Caldera.
