This season for the varsity football team ended with excitement, happiness, and memories. The season was challenging for the team, but they worked hard and overcame them. The importance of being an athlete is not always about winning championships but the memories the athletes make. Senior wide receiver Anthony Monroy scored five touchdowns and averaged 68 yards per game.

“This season was one of the best I’ve ever been a part of,” said Monroy. “The friends and teammates made practices and games fun every day.”

For many athletes, the best part of being on a team is time spent with teammates. Another player, Bosten Dennis says that this season was great and he had a lot of fun spending time with his teammates. Dennis played linebacker where he was third on the team with 4.7 tackles per game.

“This year was fun and I’m excited to get out and play again,” said Dennis. “My favorite part of the season was playing with the team and spending the season with them.”

Coach Taua Cabatbat enjoyed this season and is beyond proud of the team.

“This year went extremely well and I’m proud of all of them for sticking to it and their progress throughout the season,” said Cabatbat.

Cabatbat was pleased with the players and enjoyed the season.

“This year went well for the team and I had a good time coaching them,” said Cabatbat.

Many Buckaroo players were recognized with league and state awards at the end of the season.  Gabe Lange, 3A North Honorable Mention Offensive Line; Logan Jonas, 3A North Honorable Mention Offensive Line; Erick Valencia, 3A North Offensive Player of the Year; Ryder Huitt, 3A North 1st Team Offense Wide Receiver; Anthony Monroy, 3A North 2nd Team Offense Wide Receiver; Erick Valencia, 1st Team All-State Running Back; Ryder Huitt, 2nd Team All-State Wide Receiver.
