Varsity girls face obstacle in Elko

On February 7, the varsity girls basketball (15-6) team faced off against Elko (16-8). The girls started off strong, but couldn’t keep up the intensity in the fourth quarter and ended up losing the game 57-51.

The girls played in front of a raucous crowd that helped the girls get off to a fast start.

“The crowd really helped energize us in that first quarter and it helped get us off to a fast start,” said Taylor Schwartz.

The Lady Bucks were able to keep up the intensity throughout the game until the fourth quarter. The Buckaroos had trouble making any shots for the majority of the fourth quarter.

Taylor Schwartz said, “We just committed too many mistakes and couldn’t get any shots to fall in the fourth quarter.”

The Bucks were eliminated from playoff contention last week when Elko beat White Pine, but the Lady Bucks still plan to play hard the rest of the season as they have home games versus White Pine and West Wendover.
