Varsity softball going strong

Lowry varsity softball catcher Dana Pardovich, had a great day on Saturday, March 20.

Lowry dominated the pre-season doubleheader against Fernley on March 20 winning 11-1 for the first game, followed by 13- 5 in the second. The Lady Bucks hit three home runs on the day. One was hit by senior Lynnsey Johnson, and the other two by Pardovich.

Regarding their win, Pardovich said, “I think us winning all six has made us really confident and showed us what we need to work on so we’re ready when we have to play Fernley. We’re more confident.”

Although Pardovich is proud of their winning streak she remains level-headed and realizes that there are numerous things that still need to be improved upon, particularly fielding,

“We need to tighten up… fielding needs some work,” she said.

There are four new players making up the varsity team this year, of the four, there is one freshman, Jordan Mecham.

Pardovich realizes that playing on a varsity team as a freshman your first year may be overwhelming, “she’ll find her groove, it’s really different never playing a varsity game and then coming up as a freshman,” Pardovich continued. “Returning players are working hard and trying to help everyone out, and work as a family.”

The Lady Bucks are looking forward to playing Dayton for their first league game.

Winning both games on Saturday gave softball their sixth win so far, therefore making them undefeated.
