Varsity softball starts the new season and has high hopes with returning and new members, hoping to improve their results from last season. Last year, the team ended with a 17-19 overall record, being 4th in the north-east. Head Coach Megan Maga is excited about the upcoming season and her team.
“I feel very excited for our upcoming season,” said Maga. “It’s a good balance of experienced players to help lead.”
All the girls are excited about the upcoming season with their teammates. Kira Wiley, a junior, hopes for a good season.
“I hope that there are a lot of wins, and I hope that it’s an overall good season,” said Wiley.
A new member of the team, Maite Bengochea, is excited to be a freshman on varsity.
“It’s fun to be on varsity,” said Bengochea. “I hope we win state because they have been runner-ups every time they’ve gone”. Liliana Aguilar is very sad about it being her last year that she will play with her Lowry family. “I’ve played since I was eight years old, and saying goodbye is going to be very hard,” said Aguilar.
Varsity softball went 4-2 in the Colorado River Invitational this season and hopes to keep a good season going. The Lady Bucks are 9-3 in a double header against North Valleys and a tournament in Idaho. Recently, the Lady Bucks took two out of three games from Fernley to move into first place in the league
