What to Watch: ‘Hunted’

Have you ever wondered what it is like to track down a fugitive on the run? The new game show on CBS is about just that.

Hunted is a competitive and real-life game show where a team of two normal civilians, friends, relatives, or spouses are selected to go on the run. Their goal is to make it 28 days without being captured, and if they do so they are awarded 250,000 dollars. They are required to stay in a 100,000-square-mile perimeter centered around Atlanta Georgia.

Working to catch them is a team of veteran investigators using state-of-the-art tracking methods to find the teams of fugitives(cbs.com). The hunters who are in the field scour through the targets’ homes and are directed by the command center that is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The investigators hack into the fugitive’s social media, emails, etc., and identify clues to potential hiding places and potential collaborators that may be helping the fugitives. They even post wanted signs throughout the social network hoping to get help from the public if “fugitives” are spotted.

The teams of two must use incredible tactics if they want to avoid the hunters picking up on their whereabouts. The teams are only allowed to use ATMs but the problem with that is once the card is swiped the investigators immediately know where the “fugitives” are. Personal cell phones are tracked so most teams use burner phones. Staying with family and friends is dangerous, several teams choose to camp or stay with strangers. This also makes them more vulnerable as they are out in the open and more susceptible to being turned. One minor error could lead to the fugitives being caught.

This reality show is like no other and is action-packed but be warned this show may cause high levels of anxiety.

You can watch Hunted now on Wednesdays at 8 pm on CBS.
