AI has been all over the media and it feels like everyone has a small fear in the back of their minds that AI might take over the world like in a sci-fi movie, but that is just not the case.
AI is in every nook and cranny of the internet, and people don’t even realize it. AI is utilized in auto-correct when texting a friend and Siri, helps you find results for all your questions and demands. AI is nothing new to technology and has been around for years.
AI has also been used for entertainment. Have you ever used a filter on Snapchat? AI was behind it, aligning the filter to your features. Or have you ever messed around with the AI bots on Snapchat or Instagram? AI is even used to make playlists or add songs to a queue on music apps like Spotify.
AI can also be a great tool. It’s already known that AI has been used in auto-correct and systems like Grammarly, but AI can also be applied to math. Some math websites or apps use AI to produce an answer and its process. AI can also help with writing, asking AI how to restate a sentence to be more formal or having it provide examples of how to start your essay.
Some people may argue that AI can help people cheat and make a person dumb, but I mostly place the blame on the people who abuse AI for its abilities. High school students are old enough to understand that their intelligence is dependent on their want to grow. If students want to take the easy way out and have AI write all their essays, that’s on them. Students should know that if you want to grow, you must go through different trials and errors to learn.
Another downside of AI is the concern that it will take jobs from people and disrupt employment. While AI has already covered some jobs that were one human operated, I feel that AI could help create more jobs as it grows. The more AI develops the more time and effort is needed to perfect it. People will be needed then and this could help establish more jobs.
Overall, AI can be used as a great tool for inspiration, entertainment, and aiding with learning. AI is already rampant in our world and it’s only going to develop more with time.
