Zaquery Growcock has been named the varsity baseball Student-Athlete of the Week due to his outstanding performance in Lowry’s recent playoff game against South Tahoe.

“He hit a triple that led to our first run of the game,” said Coach Brent Riemersma. “Later on, Zaq hit a game-winning double that scored Kayd Garner.”

Being recognized as Student Athlete of the Week means a lot to Growcock, boosting his confidence as a player.

“It means a lot,” said Growcock. “It really makes me feel better about being a ballplayer.”

In addition to his impressive batting, Growcock made key defensive plays in the outfield, which were instrumental in advancing the team in the playoffs. Coach Riemersma noted Growcock’s recent improvements and contributions to the team.

Riemersma highlighted a standout moment in the game that showcased Growcock’s offensive skills.

“He has been making plays in the outfield to get hitters out and slow runners down,” Riemersma added.

Growcock prepares for victory through hard work and focus, ensuring that distractions do not interfere with his game.

“What prepared me for victory was taking things seriously and working as hard as I could, which allowed me to play my best,” said Growcock.

Riemersma emphasized the significance of Growcock’s performance in securing the victory.

“His hit and Garner’s running helped the team move on to the regional round of the playoffs,” said Riemersma.

Growcock attributes his success to the support of his coach and teammates.
