Student-Athlete of the Issue: Roberto Sanchez

Roberto Sanchez is a multi-sport athlete, who has his eye on bigger things than just high school sports.

Roberto is a striker for the soccer team and utilizes his passing, shooting, and dribbling to help the team win, but oddly enough Roberto doesn’t think that any of those are his greatest attributes.

“I think my biggest strength is that I go out every game and play hard, even if something goes wrong, I just keep going,” Roberto said.

Roberto is overall a great athlete and constantly thinks of ways he can help his team win, but even Roberto will say that there are still things he can improve on.

“I think I could work on talking more on the field and influencing my teammates by being an example to them,” Sanchez explained.

The soccer team has struggled out of the gate, but Roberto is confident that the team can turn their season around.

“We haven’t started out great but I think we’re going in the right direction by working hard and continuing to get better,” said Roberto

Roberto also thinks that the team will not only turn around their season but also believes that the team will make the playoffs.

“Even though we haven’t got the start we wanted our ultimate goal is to make the playoffs,” Roberto said.

Roberto is looking to go further than just participating in sports for Lowry and plans on playing soccer in college as well.

“Hopefully I can play a college sport, I want to make the soccer team at UNLV and if I can’t then I will just study there,” Roberto said

Roberto is the class of Lowry athletes and a great example of how to conduct yourself on and off the field. Sanchez not only constantly works on his athletic greatness but is also capable academically and always has his priorities straight.

You can watch Roberto and the soccer team play at their next game against Spring Creek, the game is in Spring Creek on Saturday at 5 p.m.
