Ms. Julia Topholm selected Mira Preciado as Artist of the Year for 2025. Preciado has been dedicated to all forms of art provided here at Lowry since her freshman year. Her enthusiasm for Art has branched out into her other classes, and the skills she has developed have served her well in stagecraft.

“Mia has been in the art program since her freshman year,” said Topholm. “She has taken every single Art class she possibly could and has transitioned her production not only to pieces for Advanced Art 2 but also Stagecraft. She has showcased her artistic abilities in both classrooms.”

Art offers Preciado an outlet for her creative imagination. Her intricate ideas can be translated into whatever material she is using.

“I like art because I am able to create anything I want out of my imagination,” said Preciado. “I am able to put it on paper, and that’s pretty cool.”

Preciado has been an active member of Lowry’s Art Club for the past four years, and she has proven to be a student who always strives to improve and try things out of her comfort zone.

“She has been a four-year member of our art club, and she is just an overall willing student to learn, grow, and challenge herself,” said Topholm.

Preciado is graduating this year, so she is looking for her future career. She is intrigued by cinematography and has plans to pursue a career in it.

“I am thinking about going into cinematography because that would be interesting,” said Preciado.

One of Preciado’s artistic accomplishments is the mural she completed above the auditorium. Every year, Advanced Art students complete murals around the school that showcase their skills and talent. The murals she has completed help the school look more vibrant and unique.

“She has completed murals for the campus to help make it more beautiful,” said Topholm.

Since the mural is located above the auditorium, Preciado wanted to capture all the things that make up drama and stagecraft. Preciado is involved in both and brought her knowledge to create a cartoon mural.

“I did a really cartoony design with the mural,” said Preciado. “I wanted something that encapsulated drama and stagecraft since I do both of them.”

Preciado has many traits that shine and show her dedicated personality. Throughout the years, she has always been willing to try anything that is given to her. When Topholm introduces something new, Preciado always tries her absolute best in it.

“She is one of those kids who, if you ask her to do something, she’s not scared to try,” said Topholm.

All the memories that Preciado has made throughout the entirety of high school are important to her. She will miss all aspects of high school, including seeing her friends, going to class, and being involved.

“I am going to miss everything,” said Preciado. “Being able to come here every day.”
