Varsity girls take win despite tough play

“That was one of our rough games. We didn’t play the defense that we normally play,” said Alyssa Kuskie.

Finishing off with a five-point difference, they knew they could have stepped up their game.

“We’re big on defense, so we could have put on much more ball pressure and could’ve run our offense more. We were jacking up shots that weren’t there, and forcing things,” said Kuskie.

Certain players also agree that they should have gone out to the court and played the way they always do, maybe better.

“We definitely played down to their level. We didn’t make our little shots, and we weren’t aggressive on defense at all,” said Kepa Bengochea.

Even though the team had a choppy start, they certainly kept their compatibility in the end.

“The first week of practice, none of us had played with each other, and now we’re all clicking. It’s fun with these girls,” said Bengochea.

Varsity girls played on Tuesday against Truckee and won 54-19. The next game is Tuesday, January 31, against Spring Creek.
