There is a new gym in town, and it is crawling with athletes wanting to get in shape. The gym is Flex Fitness.
This new gym has been open for a mere seven months, since June 1 last year, and it already has 700 members. A good portion of those members are the students of Lowry High, working out and getting in shape.
Tony Jimenez opened the gym with specific goals in mind.
“There was a need for a new gym, especially one for all those miners who work and come home late at night,” said Jimenez. “That’s why I opened the gym, for people to come at night because they are busy during the day.”
One of the most unique things about the gym is the membership and gym access. Flex Fitness members receive a keychain card with a barcode, which they use to scan to get into the gym after hours. There is an employee to assist with memberships and maintenance from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and an employee is there from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends. Month-to-month membership is $49.99, a twelve-month membership is $39.99, a six-month membership is $44.99, Lowry students pay $29.99 a month, and a 10-workout punch card is $49.99. The gym is equipped with security cameras that can be accessed by the owners from anywhere to check on the gym. These systems allow any member to come in and work out even when there are no employees there. With this new gym, he keeps equipment fresh. Jimenez switches out equipment when he notices that it isn’t being used. This keeps the gym new and always brings back customers.
Some people avoid gyms because they are dirty, but that won’t be a problem because this gym is cleaned at least twice a day, if not more.
Jimenez loves all his members, and he tries to call all of them by their names.
“It makes people feel better; it can sometimes be an uplifter if someone has had a bad day,” said Jimenez. “Saying the person’s name makes them feel important, and I want to make all of them feel important.”
Jimenez is always nice and helpful, and is always willing to help the gym members.
He even has the workout jams covered; the gym has a sound system that operates off of Pandora. The gym allows members to change the music themselves. These are just some of the great benefits of Flex Fitness.
“Come check it out and try it out, the members love it,” said Jimenez.
