Date ideas in the High Desert

Here in the Great Basin Desert, there are very limited activities to do with your significant other. Let’s face it, we live in Winnemucca. We have one movie theater, one bowling alley, and a few parks that all the tweakers hang out at. That is about it. It’s pretty rough living here, but luckily enough for you readers, I consider myself a dating expert. So next time you want to take that pretty girl on a date, or just find something to do with your homies, refer back to this guide to get some excellent ideas.

Water Canyon is always a hot spot to hang out for Winnemucca teens. Although Water Canyon is a cool place, there are always weird people up there doing drugs and other illegal activities. So instead of going up to Water Canyon and smoking a doobie, I would just go out into the desert and explore there instead. Take a friend or two just in case you get lost or have an unfriendly encounter with a ravenous animal.

Most boys will gladly agree that taking girls to shoot rabbits is an adequate date. Depending on the girl, they would disagree. A good alternative to this is going out and watching the sunset. Nevada sunsets are probably the most beautiful thing known to mankind. Also, this gives you a good excuse to cuddle, and everyone loves cuddling.

Last but not least, it is always a thoughtful gesture to take a girl to a nice dinner, or even just for ice cream. Boys don’t understand that girls don’t require a lot of attention and money. You could literally buy a $1 ice cream cone at McDonald’s for me, and I would probably cry. You don’t have to take a girl out for a $60 dinner. It isn’t about how much money you spend on a date; it’s the thought that counts.

With warm summer nights quickly approaching, try to do more outdoor things. There are lots of ponds in Humboldt County that are easily accessible, where you can spend a day. Hiking the Sonomas or any other surrounding canyon is a great idea as well. No matter what you decide to do with bae, just make sure you avoid creepy places because things could go bad at any second. Good luck out there, champs.
