The JV cheer coach, Amanda Ponce, chose Aisys Herrera as the Student-Athlete of the Week.
“Aisys has been a great asset to the team this year,” said Ponce. “She shows up ready to work and willing to try new things”.
Herrera shows the qualities of an amazing player even though this is her first year cheering.
“I started cheering because I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and cheer is pretty in general,” said Herrera.
In the two seasons, Herrera has cheered for, she has created a bond with the other players on the team and views them as her family.
“I like the bond I have built with these once strangers and how the squad has become my cheer family,” said Herrera.
This cheer family that has developed this season is always put first to Herrera and she’s willing to help them in all the ways she can.
“She’s always looking out for others and willing to lend a hand to help when she can,” said Ponce.
