Art teacher, Ms. Julia Topholm, has selected her sculpture student, Amberlyn Blendall, as Artist of the Issue due to her creative skills. This is Blendall’s first year at Lowry High School but Topholm sees a lot in her.
“Amberlyn is new to Lowry but she’s very creative,” said Topholm.
Lowry has brought Blendall a very different experience than her previous schools and she is enjoying the change of environment.
“Being here is way different because it is a lot smaller,” said Blendall. “It’s not as chaotic and nicer since it is a lot calmer than other schools I have been at.”
Blendall is taking Topholm’s sculpture class and with no prior experience with Blendall, Topholm did not know what to expect. Blendall has amazing abilities that have not failed to be acknowledged by Topholm.
“With her being a new student I didn’t know her background and her skills,” said Topholm. “I have just been impressed with the quality of her work and her skill level.”
Blendall has an apparent love for art and there are multiple aspects that she really enjoys about it. She has a couple of inspirations that help her create her pieces.
“I like the creative concept of art, it is very freeing,” said Blendall. “Music and different topics are what heavily inspire my art.”
Blendall has a skill that not many artists have and it allows her to create amazing pieces. Topholm has noticed this ability and her love for sculpting in general.
“She has the ability to take random mediums and create some really cool things,” said Topholm. “She is a very strong visual-spatial learner and you can tell she really had a love for the sculptural medium.”
