Athlete of the Week: Jace Billingsley

This weekend the baseball team traveled to Sparks and Reno for their first official games of the season. Even though they were up against 4A teams, including Reed, Spanish Springs, Douglas, and McQueen, they won one of their games.

The games helped coaches see what things they need to work on, as well as the team’s strong points.

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Jace Billingsley, a sophomore on varsity. All four games of the weekend, “Jace played the game the way it was meant to be played,” according to head coach Ron Espinola.

Jace has been on varsity two years in a row now, and he is also a captain this year.

Jace pitched in the only win against Reed. Through six solid innings, he helped set the tone for the team. In addition, he only gave up four hits in the game.
