Boys Golf Preview

This season, Lowry’s golf team is going through the season with one goal in mind: to win the state tournament. The very young golf team consists mainly of juniors, sophomores, and freshmen and is coached by Winnemucca Junior High teacher, Kent Kracaw. There are no seniors participating this year. Coach Kracaw feels that his team this year is going to be a great building team that will be able to secure next year’s season.

“I have high expectations for them,” said Kracaw.

The team consists of Christian Alcaraz, Giovan Cholico, Joey Dendary, Brandon Eldodt, Jerry Jakich, Jake Maga, Alex Schumacher, Dillon Bryan, Tyler Cox, Grant Miller, Dean Vetter, Chase Estes, Ryan Kracaw, Austin Ourada, and Jared Parks.

Returning player junior Joey Dendary feels they will be able to excel and progress toward the state tournament. Dendary finished in third at the state tournament last year.

“I want to win state this year,” said Dendary, “Truckee will probably be our biggest competition.”

The boys practice at the municipal golf course every day after school, except when it snows. The overall season for the boy’s golf team seems promising as the boys compete and practice with optimism.
