The Buckaroos annihilated Battle Mountain in a 61-0 victory Friday night August 27.

In Lowry’s first home game of the season junior running back Jace Billingsley, as well as many others, had a great offensive night. Billingsley felt that the offensive line was the key to the victory.

“The best part of the game was definitely the blocking, I got huge holes to run through,” said Billingsley.

Nineteen seconds into the season, Billingsley scored Lowry’s first touchdown on a 51-yard run up the sideline.

During Battle Mountain’s drive in the first quarter, Michael Arenas intercepted the ball at Lowry’s 42-yard line returned Battle Mountain’s 39-yard line. Arenas had been moved up to varsity two weeks before the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Buckaroos were up 27-0. In the second quarter with 4:24 left junior Johnny Hernandez ran in a 14-yard touchdown to put Lowry up 34-0 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, senior Mitch Pollock threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jace Billingsley, three plays before the touchdown pass Pollock was tackled and injured his ribs. When Pollock left the game, sophomore Michael Billingsley stepped in and directed the offense for the rest of the game.

“Even though Battle Mountain graduated 17 seniors, Lowry executed well,’’ said head coach Tim Billingsley.

“We need to keep up the intensity no matter what the score,’’ said Jace Billingsley.

Lowry will be back in action at home on September 3 against Wooster.

“We’re going to fire it up, the kids are ready to practice hard and get after them next weekend,” said coach Billingsley.
