According to Coach John Brooks, Edward Jones has stood out the most when it comes to managing school work and wrestling at the same time. Jones works hard in practice in order to succeed in events. He wouldn’t be able to make this happen without being an acceptable student because grades predict participation.
“He finished 2nd in our tournament this past weekend and does a good job in class as well,” said Brooks.
As a coach, Brooks is thankful that his athletes are disciplined enough to know what needs to be done and finish their work. This creates dedication and makes an individual a better athlete.
“We talk a lot about doing things the ‘Lowry Way’,” said Brooks. “Edward makes every effort to do the things we do in our wrestling room at practice and at competitions.”
Coach Brooks is thankful for Jones’s effort, which he always shows during practices, and his ability to act the same way in competitions.
“I feel like I wrestle a lot more confidently and a lot more controlled now than I did last year,” said Jones. “I think Mr. Brooks is an amazing coach and he always helps like after a match and tells us what we could do better and I think that the way we have to condition ourselves benefits us.”
Jones explains how Brooks is always looking out for them and will continue to encourage them to do their best and achieve their goals.
“The more experienced kids do give lots of useful tips on what to do in practice and our seniors run our pregame,” said Jones.
With the help of the seniors, the underclassmen get to experience the different techniques that can impact their way as wrestlers and improve as athletes.
