The 2025-2026 student body and class officers have been selected and are preparing their goals for the upcoming school year. These students represent Lowry as a whole and organize events to keep spirits high. The elected student body president for next school year is Callie Paulsen, who has been a class president since freshman year.
“I chose to be student body president because I really enjoyed my time in leadership and I want to share the skills I’ve learned with my peers and future leaders,” said Paulsen. “My plans for next year are to get everyone in the school more involved in school activities and spread more spirit.”
Raising spirit is a shared goal in mind for all officers, including elected sophomore vice president Preslie Hoyt, who enjoys representing her class and supporting Lowry as a whole.
“The benefit of being an officer is that I am able to make decisions that others don’t,” said Hoyt. “I chose to run for sophomore vice president because I love the class and love that I get to help with the things that happen in the school.”
Tristan Vankirk will represent the sophomore class alongside Hoyt. Vankirk plans to run for president every year of high school and has been participating in leadership activities, including clubs, classes, and extracurricular activities, since he was in fifth grade.
“I chose to run for president because every year I get to learn how to be stronger and improve,” said Vankirk. “What I enjoy most is how fun it is to be a class officer. You get to represent your school, and you get to lead people.”
While Vankirk is certainly experienced in leadership, it is senior vice president Keira Garner’s first time holding such a position. Garner hopes to support her class and is striving for self-improvement.
“I ran for office because I’ve always enjoyed trying new things,” said Garner. “Not only that, but this position can drastically improve my chances of getting into a good college. I plan to have a successful senior year full of fun! One of my biggest things is to advocate for the students who don’t feel heard.”
Garner will be working with senior president, Alexa Silva Ramirez, who is holding an office for the first time.
“I chose to run for president because it seemed like a good opportunity to be part of the school as well as be a great volunteer,” said Silva. “My goal for next year is to create fun events as a class that I hope everyone will enjoy.”
As Silva takes the role of class president next year, Marinna Paulsen, the Sophomore class secretary, brings up what she hopes to accomplish next year.
“My main goal as secretary is to give my class a fun and memorable sophomore year,” said Paulsen. She plans to address any concerns by bringing them to the leadership class to “think of a compromise or solution,” said Paulsen.
She hopes to bring mental health days to the library so that students are able to “relax and de-stress.”
Like Paulsen, Cylie Spriet, who is going into her 4th year as Vice President, is also excited to share her ideas for next year.
“As Student Body VP I plan to make a longer lunch for students once a week,” said Spriet.
She also includes her plans for being a good communicator with the students in school.
“I plan to ask people their opinions on what they would like to see being changed through our Instagram account,” said Spriet.
