The freshman boys basketball tryouts have concluded and the teams have been selected. Based on tryouts, head coach Brandon Eastman sees a lot of potential for the team this upcoming season.

“Tryouts were good,” Eastman said. “I believe we have a lot of really good pieces. We have some height, quick guards, and just about a little bit of everything.”

One of the players, Justin Hogan, explained that tryouts went well. He believes that he has skills that he can provide to his team.

“I feel like I have good layups and passing skills that will be good for the team,” Hogan said. “As well as communication.”

Some of the players, such as Kale Webber, see the season as motivation for not only improving his basketball skills but also his grades.

“Basketball starting is good because I was able to get my grades up and it made me very excited to make the team,” said Webber.

Throughout the season, there are many goals that the players want to achieve.

“I hope I can start to improve my skills and learn more about the sport as the season goes on,” Blake Burdette said. “Along with obtaining a better understanding.”

Eastman also has big goals like the players. He is excited about how far the players and the team will progress this upcoming season.

“Where we are at from tonight’s practice, is not going to be where we are even a week from now. Let alone three months from now,” said Eastman.

Roster: Cristobal Arriola, Izayus Barajas, Blake Burdette, Jacob Chadwell, Jovanni Garcia, Cooper Hoagland, Justin Hogan, Juan Mendoza, Tate Rost, Izayah Sariano-Hoover and Kale Webber.
