The upcoming season for the freshman boys’ basketball team brings hope for a successful season with the new relationships and teamwork they will bring to the court.
“I believe our season has the potential to be quite successful, especially considering the amount of first-year players joining our team,” said Straton Owen. “I think the season will go great”
A freshman team means new a court filled with new players, and in addition, a new coach, Ricarda Braatz.
“I think our season looks promising,” said Coach Braatz. “Our boys match up well athletically with others in our league.”
With hopes to match the competition, player Robin Braatz is looking forward to working with his team.
“It’s all our team that makes us come together,” said Robin Braatz. ”I look forward to seeing the competition and our teamwork come into play. I wouldn’t change anything particularly, I just hope we can be a union.”
Being able to coach and see the freshman team for their first year and then see them develop and improve throughout the years is something to look forward to for Coach Ricarda Braatz.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the athletes grow in their confidence,” said Coach Braatz. “I am excited to help them develop the ‘“’Next Play’”’ mentality that so many great athletes have. The freshman level is for developing skill, confidence, and a love for the game. I’m excited to be a part of this Lowry program and look forward to seeing improvements from the beginning of the season to the end.”
The team began their season and won their first game against North Valleys 44-43.
This year’s freshman boys’ basketball team includes Jonny Leon, Guhner Gladden, Anden Thomas, Straton Owen, Trevor Niblack, Dominick Castaneda, Anthony Sims, Dyson Curry, Tristan Vankirk, Nathanael Gordan, Jaxson Morgan, and Robin Braatz. The team manager is senior Joao Pedro Lyra Lisboa.
