Lowry’s freshman boys battled out a long season for an undefeated league record.
A few of the boys have been playing basketball since city league while this was the first year for others. Going into the season an undefeated season wasn’t expected, but it was definitely welcomed.
“The season overall was pretty good we went undefeated in league. We improved a lot in working as a team. The highlight of the season is that we went undefeated,” Josiah Chapman.
As far as growth and improvement throughout the season, the team came together really well.
“We worked together as a team and grew a lot. We learned to work together. We worked a lot on just running everything and getting to learn all of our offenses and really putting them to use in games,” said Brendan Domire.
For improving towards next year’s season Domire shares the boys need to finish out games strong.
“We probably have to finish games we had trouble in the 4th quarter finishing and playing hard through the whole game,” said Domire.
The Buckaroos had a fun season and a lot of that had to do with their coach, a teacher at Lowry, Austin Mayo.
“My favorite part of the year was talking to Coach Mayo, ” said Evan Jeppsen.
Chapman also enjoyed that aspect of the season, “my favorite part of the season was the pregame speeches.”
Playing in Truckee was one of the Buck’s better games of the season and their biggest competitor was Fernley.
“When we went to Truckee we all played well together and they were pretty good but we beat them by 20 in their house. It was a pretty good game. Fernley was probably our biggest competition. In the first game, we only beat them, by four, and in the second game we beat them by nine,” said Domire.
The team included: Brendan Domire, Kyle Sappington, Jakeb Snyder, Ethan Radmanovich, Jacob Means, Miguel Barajas, Oscar Juanez, Mario Lopez, Rene Flores, Scottie Smith, Evan Jeppsen, and Josiah Chapman.
