Greenwave freezes against Buckaroos

On Thursday the Buckaroos faced off against the Fallon Greenwave for the last game before the playoffs. The stands at Lowry were looking bare as many supporters decided to stay home due to the cold weather and the three-day weekend. However, the crowd will surely return this Friday for the rematch as the same two teams will play in the first round of the Division 1A playoffs.

Within the first minute of the game, Calvin Connors returned the opening kickoff 95 yards, scoring a touchdown for Lowry. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 7-0 with the Bucks in the lead. Only minutes into the second quarter, Nate Eldodt caught a pass from Connors, scoring another touchdown for Lowry. After a hard-fought first half, the score was 13-7 with the Buckaroos in the lead.

With three minutes remaining in the game, Tanner Lecumberry intercepted the ball, running it down the field to the 30-yard line. Within minutes Brandon Okuma scored a touchdown for Lowry, the last one in the game. The final score was 21-7.

Junior Coal Johnson thought that the game was the most interesting one of the entire season.

“It will be hard to beat a team twice, but we can do it. We are a great team and we have come a long way since our first game,” said Johnson.

The Buckaroos will host a playoff game against Fallon, Friday at 7 p.m.
