The JV girls soccer team beat Fernley last Wednesday at home, 7-0. The Bucks took an early lead with their first goal scored about 10 minutes into the match by Hailey Fernandez; Fernley had few chances throughout the match.
“After that, it was one [goal] after the other,” Melonie Martinez.
The final score of 7-0 was reached by the end of the first half.
For the majority of the second half, Lowry worked on their passing and communication to avoid running the score up.
“We just passed around and practiced connecting our passes with each other,” Martinez said about the team’s style of play during the second half.
Concerning the entirety of the match, Sam Diaz said, “Our defense was on point, they kept a good stance the whole game and waited for the opponent to make their mistake. Our mids and forwards were also working great together, they worked off of each other, gave each other great through passes, and together we shut out Fernley.”
Martinez echoed the sentiments of her teammate.
“We connected our passes better because we were working the ball up the field and spreading out to make the other team tired,” Martinez said about what the girls learned from the 7-0 win.
Some of Lowry’s goal scorers were Sam Diaz, Lexi Wolicki, and Hailey Fernandez. The JV girls will be back on the pitch at South Tahoe at 3 p.m. this Friday.
