On the last day of Winterfest at 3 p.m., the junior varsity girls gathered around head coach Chelsea Mendiola to draw a plan for beating Sparks; with a 41-12 victory, Lowry stuck to the plan.

In the first quarter, the Lowry girls took a six-point lead against Sparks. At the end of the quarter, Sparks had four fouls and the score was 8-2.

The second quarter gave little hope for Sparks to catch up with the score 22- 4, and Sparks having eight fouls.
Kelse Diehl’s favorite moment in the game was when “all our freshmen showed Sparks up.”

In the third quarter of the game, the Railroaders were getting forceful, giving three Lowry girls free throw shots, the buzzer sounded at the end of the third quarter the score was 35-8.

“No, they’re a pretty easy team and we kind of took advantage of that,” Diehl said.

In the final quarter, the Railroaders had no hope of winning as Lowry’s lead increased to 29 points.

“We did ok but we need to work a little harder,” said Diehl at the end of the game.

“It was pretty good,” said freshman Kendal Madden.
