Kanye for president?

On August 30, 2015, the MTV Video Music Awards took place. It was a night full of laughs, great music and Nicki Minaj getting verbal with Miley Cyrus. Aside from all the usual MTV drama, singer/rapper/songwriter Kanye West made a shocking announcement.

In the year 2020, West will be running for president. Over the course of US history, there have been some unrealistic candidates for president. Such as novelty toys, Mr. Potato Head, Barney the Dinosaur, even a domestic cat. None of these candidates are even remotely as insane as Kanye West.

West is known for pulling extremely impulsive acts in public. He interrupted singer/songwriter Taylor Swift while she was giving an award acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009. West also referred to himself as a God in his single, “I Am a God”. One verse of his song said, “I just talked to Jesus, and he said, ‘What up Yeezus?’” In another music video from West’s song, “Black Skinhead”, West was pictured dancing with people wearing black, KKK style hoods.

Is a man like this worthy of running our country? It seems highly irrational. We are a country built on independence, liberty, and justice. The last thing we need is an irresponsible rap star running… no, ruining our country. At the 2015 VMA’s, West actually admitted to smoking marijuana before accepting his MTV Moonman award to, quote on quote, “take the edge off.”

Personally, I would rather have a toy potato with removable limbs sit in the Oval Office than someone who sings songs about gold diggers.
