After coming off of some impressive victories over Elko last week, the Lowry softball team kept the ball rolling and ran right through the Longhorns in Battle Mountain this past weekend.

The softball girls got things started with a big win over Battle Mountain on Friday crushing the Longhorns 10-0. The second game of the series was much like the first, Lowry continued with the domination and rolled the Longhorns 16-0. Battle Mountain finally managed to get on the scoreboard in the last game of the series, but Lowry continued with their dominating ways and beat the Longhorns yet again 11-2, completing the sweep of Battle Mountain.

A week prior to this series the Lady Bucks traveled to Elko to play a tough series against Elko. After losing the first game Lowry rallied to win a 14 inning game and take the series in the third game against Elko. These tough wins gave the team energy that all the players fed on and carried into the Battle Mountain series.

“We went in with a lot of momentum from last weekend,” said senior Angie Herrera, “Now with these wins, we know that we need to keep this going and take care of business for the rest of the season.”

Lowry now sits on an 8-1 league record for the Ruby Mountain league. Their record has also improved their league standings to second place just behind White Pine.

Lowry will finally play their first home games on April 18 against Wells and then take their home field again against Spring Creek on April 20 and 21.
