Every year before the Holiday season, Leadership hosts a food drive. The drive was from Monday, December 5 to Friday, December 16. The drive benefits families that cannot afford a proper Christmas dinner. Leadership donates all of the goods collected and donates them to the Food Bank where they will be distributed.
In order to encourage students to bring in non-perishable goods the 3rd-period class that brought in the most cans received an ice cream sundae party. This year the winner of the competition was Mr. Don Walton’s class. The students and Mr. Walton managed to bring in a total of 399 items.
“There was a close competition between three different classes. Mrs. Johnson, Ms. Ross, and Mr. Walton’s’ classes all had a great number of items that made the competition even better,” said leadership student Elise Rose.
Overall the school collected a total of 1,430 canned goods or non-perishable items. For any other donations that would like to be made please contact a leadership student or the community food bank to help the families in need this holiday season.
