On November 7 Lowry Bys and Girl Cross Country continued their winning streak by taking the State title for both boys and girls. This is the third consecutive state title for the boys and the seventh overall. The girls have won three consecutive and nine overall.

Adam Gray led the boys in their victory placing third, closely followed by Skylyr Bleck who placed sixth, Ryan Arndt who placed seventh, Chris Pike who who placed ninth, and Alex Shumacher who placed tenth. A little more than a week earlier the Lowry boys team had swept at the Zone competition where Gray placed first and Bleck, Arndt, Pike, and Shumacher, placed fourth fifth sixth, and eighth respectively.

“I feel like we did really well and worked together as a team,” said Gray on the wins at State and Zone.

Erin Tattersal was the first to cross the finish line for Lowry girls placing fifth overall. Jenae Neu was the only other girl to qualify in the top ten placing sixth. However, Tienisha Mueething, Emelia Legarza, and Ashlee Lee, all placed in the top twenty with thirteenth, eighteenth, and twentieth respectively.

“It’s going to be hard for them next year,” stated Gray in response as to what teams will do without their seniors, “but I have faith in them and I think they’ll be able to pull it off.”
