MTC is a program that helps keep kids working for the mines and other trades jobs. They go through mock interviews that simulate the real interview they will experience. The interviews are arranged through Ms. Kelley Griggs, the Career Center Advisor.
“The program is a nice way to help get seniors into jobs that they want to do,” said Griggs. “It’s also a nice scholarship that they can apply to get them off and started.”
The program helps people who have experience in high school and want to get into a trade job or the mining industry. They look for good people with simple things.
“You need to have some type of work experience to try and get in, prove that maybe have pictures in some of like stuff you’ve done,” said Bernardo Estrada
They simulate how the world works. The program has few spots for the people applying so they put the kid in to interview and choose the kid they think will do the best in their programs. They also simulate it with multiple rounds of interviews, even though one is only a mock interview.
Once you are accepted, they will help with paying for your schooling and allow you to work while you are doing your schoolwork.
“Once school starts, they’ll pay for half of your schooling, you’ll do school Monday through Thursday, I think, or Friday, and then from there, you only have to work Saturday,” said Estrada. “It’s only one mandatory day that you have to show up for. Work, and that’s about it.“
